The Walking Dead Cake

The Walking Dead Cake

Its October which means two things its my birthday month and The Walking Dead comes back on tv !!!! I didn't become a fan of the show until the third season was coming on and I discovered it because they were have a marathon and I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. Well lets just say after a couple of episodes I was hooked and loved it and since then haven't missed an episode. So when the season premiere came on last year and Negan was to be revealed I made my first Walking Dead cake which has been my biggest hit on youtube so far which deserves it own post because its an awesome cake. So for this cake I decided I needed a little bit of each side to be represented on this cake. The Brain with the blood on it, is in the center which is a walker brain, then I made Lucille, Negan's bat sticking out on one side and an arrow coming out beneath the brain for Daryl.

I had two make two batches of rice crispy for this cake one was for the bat and the other was for the brain mold, and of course some left over for a snack!! I colored them red but its not a must for some reason I always throw in color because if not they are kinda boring.

10X10 pan sprayed with non-stick cooking spray
I poured the entire bowl into the pan and baked it then cut it into two layers with a serrated knife to make two layers.

For a cake to look so gross on the outside it looked so pretty on the inside and it was a great tasting cake. I used a simple white cake recipe that I use a lot.

Cake Recipe

White Cake
- 4 egg whites
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1tsp baking powder
- 1/2tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 3/4 cup butter
- 1 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 1/3 cup buttermilk
Egg whites and butter should be at room temperature. Mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt and set aside. Beat butter with mixer for 30 seconds. Add sugar and vanilla and mix until well combined. Add egg whites one at a time. Then alternate between flour mixture and buttermilk until all is combined. Spray 10x10 pan with non stick spray and bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes, or until toothpick comes out clean. Cut each cake to make two layers.

Welcome to Courtney Coggins blog !!

This is my first post of my blog and I'm excited to share my journey of having a full time job, starting a youtube channel and being a mom to a very energetic two year old boy. I have always loved to make things and baking cakes is my absolute favorite. I started doing all the cooking for Christmas and thanksgiving when I was maybe 19 which my mom loved which meant that was less for her to do. Well I say it was less to do it really isn't because I made a huge mess of her kitchen. She always says wash as you go well I don't do that so at the end I have a mountain of dishes. For me to do a YouTube channel and get in front of a camera is a huge deal for me I have always hated public speaking. In middle school I took a zero on a poem so I wouldn't have to talk in front of my class. It got easier but I still don't like it. So I surprised myself when I finally made my first video and posted it ! https://youtu.be/8POIRtcJwqo I haven't set up a schedule like most yout...
